Background

Jason Ekk grew up as a missionary kid in Lisbon, Portugal. His parents work as missionaries with the Mennonite Brethren Missions and Services International and continue their work in Portugal. He graduated from Fresno Pacific University with a double major in History and Communications in May of 2005, then entered the FPU MA program in peacemaking and conflict studies. When Fresno Pacific University implemented a restorative discipline system, they hired Jason as the lead mediator and case manager. In his two years there he mediated over 40 cases ranging in content from sexual harassment to fights on campus to underage drinking. In the summer of 2006 he was hired as a Conflict Resolution Consultant for the International Republican Institute and led, in Portuguese, multiple seminars and facilitated conversations with various political parties in several different cities in Angola. He lives in Fresno with his wife, Alicha, who is finishing her credential to become an elementary school teacher.
