10th Annual Restorative Justice Conference
"Violence and the journey towards restoration" November 14-15, 2003Preconference training November 13, 2003
Place: Fresno, California
Confirmed speakers:
Wilma Derksen After their lively 13-year-old daughter, Candace, was abducted and killed, an unusual visitor confronted Cliff and Wilma Derksen. The visitor was someone whose own child had been murdered, and he painted such a harrowing picture of the future that the Derksens knew that forgiveness would be preferable to harboring vengeance.
Eventually, Wilma's journey through grief motivated her to begin a program called Victim's Voice. She coordinates meetings of victims and offenders at Stony Mountain Prison in Manitoba, where victims can ask the questions that sometimes never really get asked during a trial. The story is told in the video "Journey Toward Forgiveness."
Registration fee: $70 before November 1, 2003 (includes refreshments and Saturday lunch) $80 on or after November 1, 2003 $25 for students or those over 60 years of age.
To register email pacs@fresno.edu or call 800-909-8677. We accept credit cards.
